MSU rowers earn medals at U-23 World Championships

July 30, 2010

Representing both the United States and Canada, two MSU rowers earned medals last week at the Under-23 Rowing World Championships in Brest, Belarus.

Emily Regan, who finished her career as a Spartan last season, won gold as the six seat on the U.S. eight boat. Meanwhile, Regan’s former teammate, senior Laura Cowal raced for Canada and also medaled as the stroke for the Canadian eight.

Both Regan and Cowal were teammates on MSU’s varsity eight for three years, winning three straight Big Ten championships.

Regan was the 2010 Big Ten Athlete of the Year and graduated in May.
