Golfer Kueny named All-American

May 24, 2010

After recently being named Big Ten Golfer of the Year and chosen for the All-Big Ten first-team for the third consecutive season, MSU senior golfer Laura Kueny added one more accomplishment to her illustrious career by being named a second-team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association, or NGCA.

Last season, Kueny earned honorable mention All-American status from the NGCA, but only made Golfweek’s All-American second team.

Kueny finished out her career as one of the most decorated golfers in MSU history.

Throughout her four years at MSU, Kueny has set three of the top seven single-season scoring averages in school history, including the lowest ever for any Spartan (73.85 this season). Her career stroke average of 74.60 also is the best in MSU history.

In her final season as a Spartan, the Whitehall, Mich., native finished in the top 10 in eight of 11 events and posted a career-best finish at the Big Ten Championships, where she came in third.
