Born in Atlanta, Stripling’s early influences were gospel choirs and his father’s love for Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis.

Born in Atlanta, Stripling’s early influences were gospel choirs and his father’s love for Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis.
Stripling learned to play trumpet and is now a jazz performer and artistic director for the Columbus Jazz Orchestra.
In addition, he leads his own quartet and frequently plays for pops orchestras, including as a soloist with the Boston Pops Orchestra.
He was also a featured soloist on the PBS special “Eventing at the Pops.”
