Steady snowfall has created slippery roads in the Lansing area, causing numerous accidents.
Nathan Jeruzal, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, said heavy snow has created slippery roads, and predicted another 6 inches of snow will fall by the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Michigan State Police did not have an exact number of car accidents for the day, but said police have responded to multiple accidents throughout the day.
East Lansing police Lt. Kevin Daley said there were more than 20 accidents in East Lansing today, with most occurring on US-127 in the Trowbridge Road area.
Jeruzal said the snow should taper off after 4 a.m. Wednesday. He said at least 3 inches of snow has fallen in the Lansing area, and storm totals could reach 10 inches.
