Student knocked out after bike wheel falls off

An 18-year-old student lost consciousness for several seconds after the front wheel fell off the bike he was riding Oct. 21 on the Auditorium Loop, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

A witness said she saw the student go over the handlebars of the blue Magna bike and hit the sidewalk, where he lay for several seconds before picking up his bike and walking toward the Kresge Art Museum.

The student sustained injuries to his mouth, hands and arm, including cuts, abrasions and a broken tooth. He was transported by ambulance to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital.
