City buildings get energy upgrades

October 5, 2009

After being awarded $213,200 from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, or EECBG, the city of East Lansing’s buildings will be upgraded with more energy efficient lights, light fixtures and motion sensors.

The grant is intended to help meet the country’s clean energy and climate goals and help create local jobs.

Annual savings from the upgrades are expected to total $20,000.

Installation is slated for January and February of 2010.
