Representatives from various residence halls and campus groups convened Wednesday evening at Holmes Hall for the first fall semester meeting of the Residence Halls Association, or RHA.
RHA is an on-campus student government group that represents all students living in residence halls.
RHA President Emma Perot said the group will work throughout the semester to ensure that students living in residence halls have access and knowledge of the various services offered by the group.
“We’re making sure that our residents know the services that we can provide for them,” Perot said. “We’re going to be hosting many events that will help draw students out.”
Among those events is Saturday’s sold-out Fall Welcome Concert, which will feature several musical acts such as Michigan-born singer-songwriter Mike Posner. The concert will be held at 8 p.m. at the Union.
Melissa Hackett, RHA’s director of public relations and advertising, said the 350 tickets allotted for the concert were given away free of charge and were gone six hours after RHA began distributing them.
Hackett said the concert’s capacity was limited to 350 people because of the home football game. However, students potentially have another option to attend the concert, she said.
“What we’re planning on doing is if you don’t have a ticket but you’re an MSU student, you can form a separate line. If we don’t reach capacity by 8 p.m., we’ll begin letting people in,” she said.
