Man’s waving leads to his arrest for debit card theft
A 41-year-old Lansing man who unintentionally flagged down an MSU police officer Friday morning was eventually arrested for stealing another man’s debit card, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.
The suspect, who has no university affiliation, appeared to be waving at the officer to stop near the Engineering Building at the corner of Red Cedar and Wilson roads. The man consented to a pat down, which led to the officer discovering a Bank of America debit MasterCard in the suspect’s possession.
The officer noticed the name on the card was not the suspect’s and the suspect was arrested, McGlothian-Taylor said. The case is being sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
