The Capital Area Michigan Works! agency was given more than $6 million in funding Tuesday from the Workforce Investment Act, or WIA, under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm announced Tuesday in a statement through the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth, or DELEG, the Capital Area Michigan Works! agency, along with 24 other Michigan Works! Agencies are in line to receive a total of $136.2 million.
Granholm said the funding will help the state’s workers receive training to help them adjust to a changing work environment.
The WIA Adult and Dislocated Worker programs are aimed at increasing targeted education, training and job placement services for Michigan workers. The programs are run through the U.S. Department of Labor and are administered by the DELEG.
