$300 stolen from Shaw Hall cafeteria employee

A 55-year-old female employee at the Shaw Hall cafeteria reported an envelope containing $300 stolen from her purse, which was stored in her office desk, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

The incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. March 7, while the purse was stored in the bottom left desk drawer in her office. The office is not located in an area of the cafeteria accessible to the public, but it was not locked due to employees’ frequent trips into the office, McGlothian-Taylor said.

The employee said she noticed the envelope was gone when she opened her purse at 7 p.m. and reported the crime to police, McGlothian-Taylor said.

There are no suspects and the matter is under investigation.
