Judicial board seeks student applicants

March 4, 2009

The Department of Student Life is seeking applications for 2009-10 judicial board members.

Applications can be found at www.studentlife.msu.edu and are due by 4 p.m. April 3 to room 101 of Student Services.

Board members can serve on six different boards, including Residence Hall Area Board, All-University Student Judiciary, Student-Faculty Judiciary, University Student Appeals Board, University Academic Integrity Review Board and Anti-Discrimination Judicial Board.

Board members hear and rule on cases about student issues. The majority of the cases deal with alcohol, drugs and altercations, Associate Director of Student Life Rick Shafer said.

Shafer said the best candidates for judicial board positions have the ability to reserve judgement and represent the university’s diversity.

Serving on the board will help reinforce the university’s liberal learning goals, including integrated judgement, cultural understanding and effective citizenship, Shafer said.
