College is a whole new world for many freshmen traveling campus for the first time. The State News sat down with one of these brave explorers to get a glimpse, in 15 questions or fewer, at a new face on campus and his perspective of his new frontier.
MEET EVAN STEWART
1. What is your favorite spot at MSU?
I like the MSU Dairy Store. Gotta love the ice cream. My favorite is white chocolate raspberry swirl.
2. Why did you decide to major in social relations and political theory?
I really like the idea of having an influence on society and making an impact on the world.
3. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A community organizer or a political consultant. Basically Karl Rove, except with a soul.
4. What attracted you to MSU?
The Honors College has a really great program that I really liked.
5. Where are you from and what makes it unique?
I’m from Holland, Michigan. We have Tulip Time and my entire town gets excited about a flower.
6. What’s an unknown interesting fact about you?
I’ve never been stung by a bee.
7. If you could be any dog, what would you be?
Can I be a lizard instead?
8. What is your favorite fiction novel?
I’d say “The Dharma Bums” by Jack Kerouac. It’s kind of an autobiography, but it’s fictional. I love the way the characters are spontaneous and they just go in the story.
9. If you could go to any college besides MSU, where would you go?
The University of Chicago. I like the academic atmosphere and also that they have a scavenger hunt there.

10. What is the most random thing you’ve ever done?
Once I was walking down a path and the MSU ROTC was ahead of me. I ended up walking in pace with them and just started skipping behind them.
11. What would your mom say is your best quality?
I think she’d say I’m a down-to-earth person. I don’t do petty stuff.
12. Are you left-handed or right-handed?
Left-handed. Proud of it.
13. If you could be any actor in any movie, what would you choose?
I really admired Heath Ledger in “The Dark Knight.” I’d want to be him.
14. Do you have any weird nicknames?
I think Harry Potter is the thing that most people call me. People say I look like him.
15. What would be the title of a movie about your life?
It would be one of those first name movies: Evan. It’d have the cool font below in bold letters and it’d be an Oscar winner.
