Men’s ice hockey vs. ?Ferris State

7:35 p.m. Friday

7:05 p.m. Saturday

East Lansing

Alex Altman: Remember that scene in “There’s Something About Mary”? You know, the one where Ben Stiller gets his unmentionables mangled in his zipper and everyone in the community enters the bathroom to witness the damage? That will be what it’s like for MSU fans to watch the Spartans live at Munn Ice Arena for the first time in more than a month. Let’s just hope the Spartans leave the building in one piece.

MSU 1, Ferris State 3; ?MSU 2, Ferris State 5

Alex Difilippo: We have seen the Spartans play great hockey (i.e., Dec. 27 against North Dakota) and we’ve seen them play horrible and downright nasty hockey (see any game against Michigan). If the Spartans plan on climbing out of last place, they cannot afford to lose this weekend. Returning home tonight should add some jump to the Spartans’ stride, but the “Dawg Pound” will chase the Spartans out like a stray cat on Saturday.

MSU 4, Ferris State 2; ?MSU 1, Ferris State 3

Cash Kruth: Thursday during our podcast, DiFilippo said the Spartans have only won one road game this whole season. He called it “pathetic.” I’ll echo that statement as that makes Saturday’s game a surefire loss, at least for progs-sake. As for today’s game, it’ll be nice for the Spartans to get some love at home after a six-game road trip. The slapshots might help MSU’s cause, but I don’t expect it will help enough.

MSU 2, Ferris State 3; ?MSU 1, Ferris State 4?

Joe Terry: So I’ve been picking against MSU the last few weeks and I’ve mostly been right, but I feel like easing my stance this week. The Spartans are bad and they’re playing a Ferris State team that is tough as nails. Still, I’ve never been fond of Ferris State and I’m picking against them out of pure spite. Hopefully, the boys in green can bail me out and act like they know what they’re doing for the first time in awhile.

MSU 3, Ferris State 1; ?MSU 0, Ferris State 5

Men’s basketball vs. Indiana

4 p.m. Saturday

East Lansing

AA: Indiana is bordering on the worst Big Ten basketball team of all time. Seriously, I haven’t seen a sorrier collection of players since my seventh grade middle school team. Out of respect for his former assistant, MSU head coach Tom Izzo refrains from running up the score, but the Spartans coast from start to finish.

MSU 86, Indiana 61

AD: There is simply no way Indiana can handle the Spartans at Breslin Center. Indiana finally won their first game in the Big Ten and it would be absolutely shameful if the Hoosiers won two straight. Senior guard Travis Walton bounces back from a subpar game on Wednesday and puts up 24 points in the Spartans blowout victory.

MSU 79, Indiana 52

CK: If you thought Wednesday’s 29-point win over the Golden Gophers was a blowout, wait until you get a load of Saturday’s game. All in all, Saturday should be a good game for all Spartans involved. Key players will pad their stats, bench players will gain experience, the Izzone will get their free taco and the program will get a win.

MSU 89, Indiana 54

JT: This should be easy to pick. After all, MSU showed that they’re capable of dismantling any lowly Big Ten team that thinks it can waltz into the Bres and pull out a victory. Then again, MSU also has showed that Penn State and Northwestern are actually rising programs that can hit shots from anywhere on the court. Fortunately, the Hoosiers have no talent and even less athleticism. Expect another epic blowout.

MSU 95, Indiana 64

Women’s basketball vs. Ohio State

2 p.m. Sunday

East Lansing

AA: This is without a doubt the biggest game of the season for the ladies. The Spartans have a chance not only to make up ground in the Big Ten standings, but also an opportunity to establish themselves as a true contender for the conference title. MSU has the talent and drive to get it done. The Spartans prevail in a defensive battle.

MSU 58, Ohio State 55

AD: With MSU and two other teams sitting at 8-3 and the Buckeyes on top of the league at 9-1, the Spartans need to pull off the upset if they are holding out hope of winning the Big Ten regular season. The last time the two teams met, the home court helped the Buckeyes in a 67-49 victory. Expect the home court to have the same effect on Sunday.

MSU 61, Ohio State 55

CK: This is a win. No doubt about it, no second guesses, no nothing. The Spartans will get a ‘W’ against Ohio State. The Spartans were on a roll before a road bump against Minnesota on Monday, but with the game being back home at Breslin Center after a two-game road stand, MSU should be able to pull out the win.

MSU 63, Ohio State 59

JT: This is a matchup of arguably the two most athletic teams in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes’ center Jantel Lavender and guard Samantha Prahalis can play for almost any team in the country and are nearly unstoppable in transition. The Spartans answer with the best post duo in the conference in junior center Allyssa DeHaan and junior forward Aisha Jefferson.
