Driver refuses parking rule, hits worker in ramp

A 62-year-old MSU parking official was struck by a vehicle Sunday in parking Ramp 3 at Wharton Center, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

The female employee was patrolling a restricted parking area in the ramp at about 6:20 p.m., when a woman drove past three cones and attempted to park. The employee approached the driver and asked her to back up and park somewhere else, McGlothian-Taylor said. But the woman refused and pulled forward, hitting the parking official in the thighs with the vehicle’s front bumper. The driver left the vehicle and entered Wharton Center after the parking officer asked her to stay.

The driver was arrested and the case was sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
