Have you ever wanted to play an instrument, but haven’t had the means to obtain one? There are several ways to create instruments with only a few household items.
For a quick makeshift band with a guitar, rainstick and drum kit, follow these simple steps:
Make a string instrument
Step 1: Remove everything from an empty tissue box.
Step 2: Wrap different rubber bands around the box for different tones and enjoy.
Step 3: To make a neck for the instrument, add a paper towel roll to the box.
Step 4: Repeat with thick rubber bands to make a bass guitar.
Make a Rainstick
Step 1: Obtain a long mailing tube or other cardboard tube.
Step 2: Push toothpicks or nails through the tube.
Step 3: Fill the tube with small pellets — birdseed or unpopped popcorn work well.
Step 4: Close the ends of the tube with felt or strong paper and seal with tape.
Make a drum set
Step 1: Take different sized cylinders and open both ends.
Step 2: Cut the small ends of balloons off and stretch them over the cylinders.
Step 3: Hold drum skin in place with rubber bands, making sure there are no wrinkles.
Step 4: Use a pencil for the drumstick and enjoy.
