Healthy meals in a blender

September 15, 2008

While most college students skip breakfast in exchange for sleeping in, breakfast is necessary for energy and jump-starting your metabolism in the morning. Making a breakfast smoothie is an easy way to have a healthy breakfast on the go.

Strawberry Smoothie

Strawberries are a good source of vitamins and antioxidants. Drinking this strawberry smoothie can help keep you healthy and even relieve stress.

  • 2 1/2 cups strawberries
  • 1 pitted peach
  • 1 cup low-fat plain yogurt or strawberry yogurt
  • 2 cups ice

Combine the ingredients in a blender and puree.

Chocolate peanut butter banana smoothie

The ingredients in this smoothie provide a good burst of protein and is a good variation on a fruit smoothie for any chocolate lover.

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry chocolate pudding mix
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup ice

Combine the ingredients in a blender and puree. You also can add a tablespoon of whey powder for even more protein.

Tomato smoothie

Tomatoes have antioxidants just as berries do, so this smoothie is a good choice for anyone who wants an antioxidant-packed alternative to fruit smoothies.
