One person died and two others were taken to Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital on Friday after a gasoline tanker rolled over, shutting down northbound U.S. 127.
The truck rolled into a GMC Jimmy north of Trowbridge Road at about 4:42 p.m., East Lansing Fire Marshall Bob Pratt said.
One of the vehicle occupants died, and the other occupant and the truck driver were taken to Sparrow Hospital.
Hazardous materials teams from East Lansing, Lansing, Meridian Township, Delta Township and Lansing Township responded, and East Lansing rescue extracted the victim from the vehicle, Pratt said.
Exit 76 northbound 127 is closed, and traffic is being diverted to westbound I-496.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
