Offensive tackle David Barrent has verbally committed to MSU, becoming the 14th member of the Spartans’ 2009 recruiting class, according to Rivals.com.
Barrent, a four-star prospect from Valley High in West Des Moines, Iowa, committed to Iowa in May, but changed his mind Monday, deciding MSU was a better fit for him.
The 6-foot-8, 290 pound offensive lineman had also received offers from Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.
Barrent is the fifth offensive lineman of his class to commit to the MSU. He will be joined in the trenches by fellow tackle Derek Hoebing, guard Micajah Reynolds and centers Nate Klatt and Blake Treadwell.
