MSU snags wide receiver prospect

July 13, 2008

Wide receiver Bennie Fowler became the 11th member of MSU head coach Mark Dantonio’s 2009 recruiting class on Saturday, according to Rivals.com.

Fowler, who attends Detroit Country Day High, is considered one of the fastest rising prospects in the Midwest, according to the Web site, which touts him as a two-star prospect.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 185-pound receiver also received offers from Indiana, Toledo and Eastern Michigan.

Fowler is the third receiver to verbally commit to MSU. Donald Spencer, who Rivals.com considers the third best wide receiver prospect in Michigan, verbally committed on Feb. 24, while three-star Ohio native Patrick White committed on June 8.
