'Common Ground' diverts local traffic

July 7, 2008

In order to accommodate the Common Ground Music Festival, several travel restrictions took effect for motorists in Lansing on July 2. The restrictions will be in effect through July 16.

Grand Avenue between Shiawassee Street and Saginaw Street will remain closed, as will Shiawassee Street between Grand Avenue and Cedar Street.

Lane reductions along Grand Avenue between Michigan Avenue and Shiawassee Street will also continue until July 16, which include Saginaw Street between Capitol Avenue and Cedar Street.

A traffic operation change at Shiawassee Street between Grand Avenue and Capitol Avenue will also continue resulting in a one-way traffic flow in the westbound direction for the duration of the festival.

Detour routes will be posted to bypass all road closures.
