2009 recruiting class receives verbal commitment from Ohio native

July 14, 2008

For the second time in three days, the MSU football team has added another name to its 2009 recruiting class.

Tight end and offensive tackle Derek Hoebing of Vermillion, Ohio is the 12th high school senior to verbally commit to head coach Mark Dantonio’s Spartans, Rivals.com reported Monday.

Hoebing, a two-star prospect, is the third Ohio native to verbally commit to MSU. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound mauler was also considering Maryland, Northwestern and Virginia.
