Neil Sauter is walking tall through Lansing this weekend — literally.
Sauter has a plan to walk on three-foot tall wooden stilts across Michigan in the next eight weeks, from Lambertville, located in southeast Michigan, to Ironwood, located on the Wisconsin border. He arrived in Lansing Friday with plans of attending the Lansing Lugnuts game Friday night.
Sauter is walking on the stilts to raise awareness and support for cerebral palsy. Sauter himself suffers from mild cerebral palsy in his legs, but he said that hasn’t held him back thus far.
Sponsored by the United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan, Sauter’s program is aimed at teaching children how disabilities do not keep people from doing great things.
Sauter is in town until Monday morning, and said he is eager to meet people and perform his act of juggling, balloon animal creating and stilt walking.
