Lack of forum coverage unfair to students, readers

Last Friday, dozens of faculty, administrators and community members joined more than 500 undergraduate students at the Union for the University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum — one of this campus’s most exciting and significant annual events. As in previous years, students delivered talks, posters and performances representing months worth of work and showcasing our university’s remarkable wealth of innovation and discovery. The forum was a phenomenal showcase of our student body’s talent in all fields of research and a credit to the achievements of everyone associated with MSU.

It was a disappointment to see The State News’ campus page dominated by an article about a cake-frosting contest. In fact, the paper made no mention whatsoever of UURAF. The State News has done a tremendous disservice to its readership by choosing to ignore a year’s worth of their colleagues’ scientific and artistic accomplishments. I sincerely hope that this mistake will not be repeated in future years.
