Freshman fifteen Q's

Reece Hammer

College is a whole new world for many freshmen traveling campus for the first time. The State News sat down with one of these brave explorers to get a glimpse, in 15 questions or less, at a new face on campus and his perspective on his new frontier.

Meet Reece Hammer

1. What is your major?

Preveterinary and zoology

2. Where do you live?

Armstrong Hall

3. Where do you go to study?

The Main Library. The study lounge works sometimes.

4. If you could live anywhere, free of charge, where would you live?

London

5. How did you decide on your major?

I love animals. I was going to do finance with it, but it’s too much and too many credits.

6. What was the first thing you did when you woke up this morning?

Brushed my teeth.

7. What’s the last thing you’ll do before you go to bed?

Drink water.

8. Would you say you made new friends this year or kept the old ones from home?

All new friends, for sure. I kept in touch with old friends here at the beginning of the year. I just recently hung out with some of them for the first time in six months .

9. Do you set an alarm in the morning or do you use your phone?

Alarm. I set my phone and alarm clock when it’s an important day, like exams.

10. Do you take the bus?

No. I figure if less people take the bus, then we won’t have a busing system, and then we can save on pollution.

11. What’s the creepiest thing that’s happened to you this semester?

People that just walk in to your room and start playing video games. It’s kind of weird.

12. Where is your favorite place to eat?

Cold Stone Creamery

13. How warm does it have to be for you to wear flip-flops or shorts?

50 degrees.

14. Do you check the weather before you go outside?

Yes. This morning I had an 8 a.m. (class) and I went in jeans and a fleece and now I’m wearing this (shorts and a T-shirt).

15. Have you had any bad bike riding experiences?

I flipped over my handlebars and got a big cut on my arm. People just laughed and didn’t even ask if I was OK. I had a quiz so I had to go to class with a bloody arm.
