Freshmen fifteen Q's

Matthew Golling

College is a whole new world for many freshmen traveling campus for the first time. The State News sat down with one of these brave explorers to get a glimpse, in 15 questions or less, at a new face on campus and his perspective on his new frontier.

Meet Matthew Golling

1. What’s your major? Why did you choose it?

I’m a business (administration) major. It sounded really professional but I like the business scene, too.

2. What was the last song you played on your iPod?

“Won’t Go Home Without You” by Maroon 5.

3. What was the last movie you watched?

“Into the Wild.” It’s really intense. It’s really good. It makes you want to go and hug your parents.

4. What is your favorite place on campus?

Walking in between Wells Hall and the Administration Building where the rapids are. I like that.

5. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

The president; I honestly wanted to be the president. As I get older, I realize it’s not such a good position.

6. What do you miss most about living at home?

A car. I miss driving a lot.

7. What kind of car do you have?

A Dodge Avenger.

8. Any goals?

Actually getting good grades. That would be cool.

9. You don’t have a roommate — what do you like about living alone?

I can go bum around when I want, but I also can come home and have it quiet when I want.

10. What’s your favorite meal from the cafeteria?

Chicken quesadillas.

11. Have you filled out a March Madness bracket yet?

I have my ideas on a bracket but I haven’t made one yet. I’m more into soccer.

12. What are you looking forward to this summer?

Hot weather, the sun and just going outside.

13. Any advice for future freshmen?

Go to class, meet people in class so you can have a study buddy and don’t stay in your room. Go out and get involved in sports, clubs and teams.
