Freshman fifteen Q's

Nick Eastman

College is a whole new world for many freshmen traveling campus for the first time. The State News sat down with one of these brave explorers to get a glimpse, in 15 questions or less, at a new face on campus and his perspective on his new frontier.

Meet Nick Eastman

1. What’s your major?

Biochemistry and molecular biology, but I’m changing that. I want to go into premedical and I think physiology would be a better major for it.

2. What has been the highlight of your freshman year?

Probably the people I met on my floor. They’re all nice guys. We all get along and we like watching sports.

3. What was the last song you listened to on your iPod?

“I Wanna Love You” by Akon.

4. What was the last movie you watched?

“Austin Powers in Goldmember.”

5. What has been your favorite class so far?

I really like CSE 101, Computing Concepts & Competencies. Not a whole lot of people do, but if you want to go into finance, it’s very helpful.

6. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A doctor.

7. Did you know your roommate before moving in?

Yes, I did. We went to high school together.

8. What was one rumor you heard about college that turned out to be untrue?

The obvious one — it’s all a party with no studying, and that’s just not true.

9. Is there anything you miss from home?

All my friends back home, of course.

10. Where is home?

Rochester Hills

11. Do you have a favorite place on campus?

Probably my hall because I can go down the hall and someone is always doing something. I can pop my head in and say, “What’s up?” and we can play a game or something.

12. What’s your favorite cafeteria meal?

A burger with shredded lettuce and thousand island dressing, Big Mac style.

13. What are your plans for the summer?

Working. I’m going to get a job back home, probably at Chicken Shack or maybe with my dad’s office.

14. Do you have any advice for incoming freshmen?

Enjoy Welcome Week, then study your butt off the rest of the semester.

15. What would you like to accomplish before leaving MSU?

I would like my GPA to be around 3.5 and just keep the friends I’ve got. I don’t know what else. I’m pretty content.
