State News What’s your favorite pregame meal?
Mia Johnson You’re about to embarrass me, but I would have to say buffalo wings and spaghetti.
SN What’s your favorite pregame music?
MJ Tupac. Has to be rap music. I have to listen to rap music.
SN How and why did you start playing basketball?
MJ My mom, when we were younger, she never allowed us to go out and spend the night at other people’s houses.
So when my sister, she started, she’s only a year and half older than I am. So what happened was, she was able to go and stay at her coach’s house the night before games because they would have tournaments on weekends. So I’m like, “I wanna do that. What am I gonna be able to do to get out of the house and hang with other people?” So I got started and I joined her club.
SN What’s your favorite spot on campus to hang out?
MJ My favorite spot, oh man, I got a lot.
I would have to say either the Bres or the Clara Bell Smith Center.
SN What’s the most challenging aspect of being a student athlete?
MJ Time management and being able to balance both worlds.
SN Describe yourself in three words.
MJ Live, love, life. Then I’m dead.
SN Who were your basketball idols growing up?
MJ My biggest basketball idol would have to be my mom. I’ve never even seen her play, but she told me she was the best all-star athlete. I’d also wanna say Michael Jordan but that’s everybody’s favorite so I would probably have to go with Allen Iverson.
