Prognosticators

MSU men vs. Minnesota

4 p.m. Sunday
Big Ten Network

JN: Wouldn’t it be great if MSU could look for double digits out of Drew Naymick every game? This has been a year of scoring distribution, and Naymick is the most recent honoree. MSU is going to need an Ohio State-like game, not one like they had the last time it played Minnesota.
MSU 72, Minnesota 64

SE: MSU barely squeaked by the Golden Gophers in its first Big Ten game Jan. 5 and then took a painful hit at Iowa on Jan. 12. Then the Spartans came out with guns blazing against Ohio State – yet kissed a 21-point lead good-bye to win by six. Ahhh … when is it going to stop?
MSU 62, Minnesota 57

AG: Minnesota made MSU struggle the first time around at Breslin Center, and I think it’s going to happen again. Sorry guys, but lately I can’t help but think the Spartans haven’t been living up to their hype. The Spartans’ offense will fail to show up – again.
Minnesota 68, MSU 64

KJ: It’s been a struggle. First it was Minnesota, then it was Iowa. Then, somehow, Ohio State clawed its way through a 21-point deficit to come within six of our Spartans. Head coach Tom Izzo said Drew Neitzel’s got to shoot more. How right he is.
MSU 74, Minnesota 71

MSU women vs. Indiana

2 p.m. Sunday
WVFN (730-AM)

JN: For the first time in recent history, the MSU women’s basketball team is fighting for its tournament life. One comfort for head coach Suzy Merchant and her team is that the game is home at Breslin Center.
MSU 65, Indiana 58

SE: The Hoosiers are going to march right into Breslin Center and steal a game on the road. I don’t see MSU finding an answer for Indiana’s Jamie Braun — who averages more than 14 points a game.
Indiana 70, MSU 58

AG: Picking these games is starting to stress me out. I want MSU to win so badly every time, but they keep putting my emotions on a roller coaster and frankly, I’m sick of the ride.
MSU 57, Indiana 53

KJ: Come on, ladies. You’ve got this one. It’s time for the Spartans to regroup from a somewhat slump of a season.
MSU 67, Indiana 60

MSU hockey vs. Ohio State

7:05 p.m. tonight/7:35 p.m. Saturday
Big Ten Network/FSN Detroit

JN: So Rick Comley and his team have proved that they can run with the big boys. But the other question for most of this season has been consistency. Can they string together a winning streak in the CCHA? MSU 3-0, MSU 4-1

SE: OK, I feel extremely confident with my weekend picks for hockey. MSU will win both – no doubt about it. The Spartans are tougher, better coached and more talented than the Buckeyes. Jeff Lerg will dominate between the pipes. MSU 3-0, MSU 4-2

AG: MSU is going to sweep the Ohio State series. It’s that simple. While it may be a close couple of matchups, the Spartans will break their habit of underperforming on the road against the Buckeyes as of late. MSU 2-1, MSU 3-1

KJ: History shows MSU struggles at Ohio State as the Buckeyes have won four of the last six meetings. MSU’s impressive road record and Jeff Lerg’s stellar goaltending will shut down Ohio State this weekend.
MSU 4-1, MSU 3-2
