Christians have changed but message remains same

I would like to say well done on another thought-provoking article in Religious pride lessens in 2007 (SN 1/10). Even as a born-again Christian and a follower of Jesus, I agree with your feelings of hypocrisy and irrationality among the Christian church.

Truly, Jesus’ followers have changed significantly in the last 2,000 years, transforming from a group that was committed to love for one another, justice for the oppressed and hope for the future to a group that is committed to traditions, political controversy and sometimes even hate for those who don’t believe.

However, the good news is that Jesus isn’t about religious traditions or political fights, and he’s definitely not about hate. He’s all about love and grace for all people, no matter their religious, ethnic, social or sexual backgrounds.

As he himself said, “The spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” I challenge you to look into who Jesus is, maybe read through the book of Luke and come to your own conclusion.
