Freshman fifteen Q's

Alexander Mikulaschek

College is a whole new world for many freshmen traveling campus for the first time. The State News sat down with two of these brave explorers to get a glimpse, in 15 questions or less, at a new face on campus and their perspective on their new frontier.

Meet Alexander Mikulaschek

1. What is your major?

Chemical engineering

2. Where are you from?

Tampa, Fla.

3. Where do you live on campus?

Mason Hall

4. What classes are you taking this semester?

HST 203, EC201H, WRA 195H, MTH133

5. How was your fall semester?

Fall semester was kind of hard, I took an honors chemistry class that really made me question my major.

6. What have you learned after a semester at MSU?

You really have to manage your time well to succeed.

7. What places around East Lansing and MSU do you like to go?

Just walking down Grand River (Avenue) is pretty good. There’s shops and places to eat and everything. The campus itself has a lot of stuff for people to do.

8. What was the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you so far?

My friends played a prank on me, they took the towel out from the dorm room shower and I had to come out in just my boxers, sopping wet.

9. What is your best memory of last semester?

The first time it snowed — there were a few inches on the ground — we all went outside and played football at night. It was a lot of fun. Everyone was all muddy and tired.

10. What album/movie best describes you?

I really like John Mayer’s new “Continuum” and “Old School.”

11. If you could hang out with any celebrity, who would it be?

Robin Williams

12. If you could have one thing in your dorm room what would it be and why?

A satellite radio so I could listen to all the different shows and you can record that kind of stuff — it would be better than actually watching TV.

13. What are your plans for next semester?

Go into a major that I actually decide upon this semester and get a good start on that and I also will look into joining some student organizations. Also, figuring out where I want to go for study abroad.

14. What is the best thing to eat in the cafeteria?

Noodle Tuesdays are pretty good, pretty solid.

15. Do you listen to music on the way to class? What’s on your iPod?

I do — I’ve got a lot of old school stuff like Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC but I also have new stuff like John Mayer and Dispatch.
