“The Club from Nowhere: Cooking for Civil Rights,” a National Public Radio story that examines the role of food in aiding the civil rights movement, will be featured in the Main Library.
Cookbooks from the library’s special collection will be displayed and bookmarks with recipes used during the civil rights movement will be distributed. Videos from the Southern Foodways Alliance that highlight the role food and culture played in the civil rights movement also will be displayed.

The Art Museum at MSU works by Detroit artist Tyree Guyton and other black artists from the museum’s collection will be featured.

The first hour will feature a potluck lunch and awards presentation, followed by a presentation of the CNN program “The Noose,” which examines the Jena 6 trial and the history of the noose in America.
