Night moves

After a long night out with friends or buried beneath a pile of books, hunger inevitably strikes. Look no further than the streets of East Lansing to satisfy all those late night cravings.

Healthy munchies

If you are trying to avoid the bulge of too much night eating, here are some tips and suggestions to stop the hunger pains and prevent the waistline backlash:

Bowls of fruit — Meijer Inc. sells several sizes of fruit bowls ranging from just grapes to concoctions of pineapple, melon, watermelon, strawberries and grapes.

Bananas and milk — It sounds awkward, but cutting up slices of banana and pouring a little milk and sugar or a sugar substitute on top makes a sweet and healthy snack.

Raw veggies — Anything from “ants on a log” (aka celery with peanut butter and raisins on top) to dipping carrots in hummus is always a good alternative to snacking on cookies or ice cream.

Yogurt — Eating it plain, or spicing it up with some granola and fruit, makes a good late-night snack.
