I am an alumnus who attended the Spartans’ spectacular game with Penn State. My grandson, who went to the game with me, asked me where the students were for the student section. The announcer at the game stated that the 13,600-member student section was the largest ever in MSU history. Sitting in the upper stands opposite the student section, it was obvious that 25 percent of the students failed to show up, and, at game’s end, only half were still seated.

I can affirm that this senior citizen as well as the 50-, 60- and 70-year-old fans around me were seated and rooting from beginning to end. We hollered, sang and supported our gallant lads fighting there on the field. Thank you coach Mark Dantonio and staff, team players, cheerleaders and the awesome Spartan Marching Band. If we only had a student section that supported you.
