Freshmen fifteen Q's

November 20, 2007

College is a whole new world for many freshmen traveling campus for the first time. The State News sat down with one of these brave explorers to get a glimpse, in 15 questions or less, at a new face on campus and their perspective on their new frontier.

Meet Brendan Hunt

1. What is your major?

Special education

2. Where are you from?

Rochester, Mich.

3. Where do you live on campus?

South Wonders Hall

4. What’s the best and worst thing about being a freshman?

One of the best things is experiencing college life. The worst is not being able to have a car on campus.

5. What’s been the biggest challenge about college so far?

The extra studying that’s not required.

6. What is your favorite class?

My special education class, CEP 240.

7. What’s your favorite part about Thanksgiving break?

Seeing all of my cousins because I don’t get to see them often, and watching football.

8. How have you changed so far this semester?

It’s not so much changed as adjusted — living on your own, you learn to become more independent.

9. What are you most looking forward to next year?

Hopefully, getting out of the dorms.

10. Where do you want to live next year?

In an apartment — I like Treehouse Apartments, and my suite-mate is looking at living in a house on Spartan Avenue next year.

11. How do you get around campus?

Either borrowing a bike or walking.

12. What’s one thing you’ll do differently next semester?

I’ll definitely schedule classes better and closer together.

13. What do you do in your spare time?

I’m a member of the lacrosse team, so that takes up a lot of my time. Other than that, sit and play video games.

14. What is your dream job?

Is stay-at-home dad a profession? I’d love for my wife to work, and I could stay home with the kids.

15. What do you want to do after you graduate?

I’m going to go out West and be a snowboard instructor for a few years.
