Tornado causes no major damage to city

The East Lansing Fire Department is reporting that a few down tree limbs and one malfunctioning electrical transformer were the lone results of last night’s storms that triggered tornado sirens throughout the area.

There are no reports of down power lines or trees.

For the first time, MSU police employed their emergency text messaging system by sending out five weather-related messages to nearly 13,000 students last night.
