Sounding off

A standing ovation from opposing fans, a legitimate congratulatory video message from the previous record holder and a grizzled veteran running around like a rookie. If only all hallowed records could fall like that.

With the 421st touchdown pass of his career, Brett Favre moved ahead of Dan Marino in the record book and added another clip to his hall of fame highlight reel.

Although Favre is just renting the spot atop the list until Peyton Manning moves in, he has established himself as not only one of the top quarterbacks of all time, but also as one of the easiest guys to root for.

Aside from having his name in the record books under a variety of categories, Favre is under the definition of “toughness” in the National Football League dictionary, as his 241 consecutive starts are the most for a quarterback.

From his 399-yard, four touchdown performance after his dad died, to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy and Sunday’s record-breaking show, Brett Favre has given sports fans moments they’ll never forget.

Congratulations to Brett Favre, the new career touchdown leader.
