Car hits student at Shaw

A 23-year-old pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries Tuesday when he was struck by a car on a crosswalk near the center of campus, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. The male student was crossing Shaw Lane at the Farm Lane intersection when the driver, who was going southbound on Farm Lane, made a left turn onto eastbound Shaw Lane. The vehicle hit the pedestrian and he rolled up the driver’s side front quarter of the car, McGlothian-Taylor said. The pedestrian saw a “walk” sign when he crossed and the driver’s view was obstructed by a large truck also turning left, McGlothian-Taylor said. The victim was transported to Sparrow Hospital with minimal injuries. The driver was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, McGlothian-Taylor said.
