The robbery took place on the same day as the 3:50 a.m. robbery of an East Lansing Jimmy John’s, 4790 S. Hagadorn Road, at gunpoint.

The suspects in the Jimmy John’s robbery were both described as about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and gloves.

On Monday, a food-delivery driver was robbed at knifepoint outside a Spartan Village apartment building, surrendering $24 and a cell phone.

The victim in Monday’s robbery told police the suspect was a male wearing dark clothing and black gloves. She could not provide a description of his physique.

Ferguson said there was only one suspect in the robbery, whereas the two previous robberies reportedly involved two suspects. He did not rule out the possibility of another suspect being involved who did not enter the nightclub.

No physical description of the suspect was given.

Ferguson said Lansing police have been in contact with other local departments regarding the case.

“We read the paper just like everybody else, and when we see they’ve had (a robbery) in a surrounding jurisdiction, we’ll check it out,” Ferguson said.

He added that a robbery at a place like Deja Vu is rare.

“A strip club isn’t typically what we see robbed,” Ferguson said.

“It’s a big place. There’s a lot of people coming and going. Places like that, people tend to believe that police officers are nearby.”
