New football wristband policy ineffective, unfair

I can deal with the wristbands at the football games. I understand that they need a way to weed out the people who are not supposed to be there to prevent overflow into season ticket holders’ seats. However, I do not understand why, when I arrived to the Northwestern game an hour early, I had to sit up in the corner away from the rest of the students when there were plenty of open seats available in the heart of the student section in the area I was assigned. I thought that the seating was on a first come, first serve basis. If that is the case then how come students arriving 20 minutes before kickoff were able to sit in better seats than I did when I got to the game an hour early. I find this new policy ridiculous. The ushers did not even have a logical explanation for all of the outraged fans, which just upset us more. The cops were also very rude when they threatened to arrest students if they did not shut up and go sit down. It’s not fair to punish the students who arrive early at games for decent seats.
