Halloween recipes

Finding sweet treats to accompany wacky costumes may seem like another scary Halloween task, but it’s easy with these quick recipes. The best part is they won’t break the bank and there’s no need for silverware. Here’s a quick guide to some freaky, finger-licking-good foods.

Cupcake creatures

Ingredients: Two boxes of cake mix, eggs, oil, water, frosting

Directions: Fill two dozen cupcake cups with cake batter. After cooling, place the cupcakes on a large tray in the shape of a ghost, pumpkin or other Halloween shape. Frost the cupcakes as they are in the shape so they appear to be one cake.

Halloween party mix

Ingredients: 10 cups of popcorn, peanut butter chips and/or peanut butter candies, 1 cup of candy corn, plain and peanut candy-coated chocolate candies

Directions: Combine all ingredients and mix well.

Scary s’mores

Ingredients: Graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows

Directions: Lay graham crackers on a microwave-safe plate in a single layer and heat them for 30 seconds to one minute. Using a metal cookie cutter, cut the graham cracker pieces into Halloween shapes. Heat the marshmallows on a bonfire, grill or in the microwave. Stick the gooey marshmallows and chocolate between two graham crackers and enjoy the sloppy, scary sweet.
