Cash stolen from dorm

September 18, 2007

Five $20 bills were taken from a bowl in a North Hubbard Hall dorm room Monday by an acquaintance of the resident, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said. A 19-year-old male student was playing video games in his room when a 17-year-old male student entered the room, McGlothian-Taylor said. The suspect then leaned against a wall that shelved the bowl containing $126 and left after several minutes. The victim noticed $100 missing from the bowl and alerted MSU police, McGlothian-Taylor said. Officers made contact with the suspect, who was taken to the police station and questioned. The suspect initially denied stealing the cash but later admitted to the theft and returned the money. The suspect will not face any charges in the incident after apologizing to the victim, McGlothian-Taylor said.
