Everyone is so caught up in the 2008 presidential election that we’ve forgotten there is another election in 2007 that will impact every MSU student. Of course, I’m talking about the East Lansing City Council election. I’m sure most SN readers are thinking, “Yawn!”
But hear me out.
The council deals with issues like parking and code enforcement, the East Lansing Police Department, developments like the East Village, rental restrictions and the list goes on and on. All of these issues affect MSU students. There is only one candidate running for East Lansing City Council on Nov. 6 who can represent the perspective of young professionals, young families and MSU students — Nathan Triplett.
Nathan is an MSU graduate who serves as the vice chairman of the East Lansing Human Relations Commission and as a member of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee. He has the experience and energy to be an outstanding council member and his vision for East Lansing’s future includes every city resident, including students. Don’t take my word for it. Look him up at www.triplettforeastlansing.org or give him a call and ask for yourself.
East Lansing needs a fresh perspective on the City Council and Nathan Triplett can provide it. He deserves every student’s vote.
