Brody Hall cafeteria service will suffer because of bosses

If you have noticed a dip in service in Brody Hall’s cafeteria, it is because of poor decisions made by the higher-ups in MSU’s Division of Housing and Food Services. Leaders such as Bruce Haskell and Angela Brown are creating a work atmosphere that is depressing. The opening few weeks are already stressed due to the fact that much of our workforce is not hired yet.

The directors have added to that stress level tenfold. They impose silly new rules that frustrate those working there. Additionally, they cannot seem to make up their minds when it comes to deciding how to run the new late-night shift and pretty much every other aspect of the cafeteria.

Student workers have to come in each day to do something awkward and very different from last year or even the last time they worked the shift. The late-night shift stretched our already light workforce to its edge and this caused people to be working extra hard for longer, often without breaks.

This caused many to quit the first week. But the most damning thing in my eyes is the fact that the directors who oversee this division make it seem like they will at any time start posting signs saying “War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength.” They totally disregard the opinions of anyone but themselves. They refuse to respond to the student supervisors. I just want a response for once from these people and for them to accept the fact that they are not always right.
