MSU to boost number of ushers, police working football games

September 13, 2007

Administrators are responding to issues at MSU football games this year with stricter ticket distribution, excess seating and the use of color-coded wristbands.

Modifications include colored tape corresponding to student wristband colors to guide fans to their designated sections.

MSU spokesman Terry Denbow said associate and assistant athletics directors formulated the plan during last week’s game to give all Spartans fans a “color and pageantry experience second to none.”

In the past, there have been only 50 ushers working at the games. Now, the number will be increased to “as many as can be found to work.” There also will be an increased number of police officers in the section.
