Web sites helpful for finding recipes

August 26, 2007

The PB&J, and boxed macaroni and cheese days can cease.

Helpful guides to overcoming the challenge of venturing into new arenas of cooking are right at your fingertips with Web sites that provide recipes to plan meals based on factors such as diets, difficulty level, cooking time, type of cuisine and the occasion.

Allrecipes.com

The popular advice section of allrecipes.com includes campus cooking tips for foods students can prepare when cafeteria food is no longer appealing, such as the daily college-cuisine recipe of Ramen noodle soup – a blend of soy sauce, ginger, sesame and chili oils mixed with Ramen noodles.

Allrecipes.com suggests college students buy pouches of foods instead of cans, along with plenty of dry fruits and cereals.

The Web site has more than 40,000 recipes that fit in several categories of cooking.

Cookinglight.com

This site has an extensive search feature to assist in finding recipes by occasion, ingredients, method of cooking and dietary consideration.

The tool not only searches for recipes within Cooking Light magazine but also Southern Living, Sunset, Coastal Living, Cottage Living and Health cooking magazines.

The site’s “Cooking 101” link has online instruction and cooking tips.

Foodnetwork.com

The Web site for the Food Network offers recipes for parties, healthy foods, and quick and easy cooking.

The site is updated with recipes for the season, and similar to Cooking Light, it has a search field with a variety of criteria.

Food Network also explains how to freeze leftovers and heat them up for dinner the next day.
