Spikers stumble in road contests

August 26, 2007

The trip to Los Angeles was not all sunny for the MSU volleyball team.

After dropping all three match-ups over the weekend at the USC Trojan Invitational, the squad will return to East Lansing hungry for a win.

The weekend started with a 3-0 loss to Southern California on Friday, and a 3-1 loss to both St. John’s and Loyola Marymount on Saturday.

Although still looking for their first win, senior outside hitters Ashley Schatzle and Katie Johnson both performed well over the weekend. Schatzle posted 17 kills and 19 digs against St. John’s, setting a career high in digs per game. Johnson posted 51 kills and 27 digs for the entire tournament.

MSU will look for their first win this weekend at Jenison Field House where they are hosting the annual Spartan Invitational. The first game will be Friday against Missouri State at noon.
