No doubt this Michael Vick saga is going to get old really quick. Ultimately, Vick isn’t intriguing enough as a human being to warrant widespread media attention for much longer than a month (it’s sad to admit Paris Hilton has more clout than Vick, but hey, it’s true).
Still, though, Vick’s story is dripping with more Hollywood potential than the Wendy’s Baconator drips pure cholesterol and premature death.
Who wouldn’t pay nine dollars to see a full documentation of Vick’s rise and fall?
It’s a remarkable riches-to-rags story, and the sports desk had difficulty imagining somebody isn’t trying to profit off of Vick. We did a little investigating and called up a few big name Hollywood producers to see if a Michael Vick movie was in the works. Apparently, there are already a few projects underway.
Vick was asked to star in a remake of the 1996 romantic comedy The Truth About Cats and Dogs. The offer was quickly rescinded by a casting director when Vick detailed his true feelings about cats and dogs.
A Hollywood producer approached Vick to voice one of the characters in another installment of the animated children’s movies All Dogs Go To Heaven. During the tryout, though, Vick improvised more than the director would have liked, which included voicing his disagreement with the movie’s premise in general.
One Hollywood insider claims Vick has definitely accepted one project to be started sometime in the next 18 to 36 months. The working title is Vick to Rogers: The Canadian Football Wonder Tandem, starring former MSU and Detroit Lions wide receiver Charles Rogers. It’s rumored that the work will be based on a true story.
