Lansing police believe they have found the suspect in the slaying of five area women since late July.
They did not release the name of the suspect.
Police believe the suspect is responsible for the murders of Ruth Hallman, Deborah Kaye Cooke, Debra Renfors, Sandra Eichorn and Karen Louise Delgado-Yates, as well as the assault of a Lansing woman Tuesday.
Hallman, 76, was found beaten to death in her Lansing home July 26.
Cooke, 36, was found dead in a local park on Aug. 6 and Renfors, 46, was killed in her Lansing house two days later.
On Monday, Eichorn, 64, was found dead in the Lansing house she rented.
One day later, a 56-year-old Lansing woman survived after being assaulted in her house. Police credit a dog for saving the woman after she was attacked. The victim is still recovering at the hospital from nonlife-threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, Delgado-Yates, 41, was found dead in her Lansing house by investors looking to purchase the home.
A composite sketch released by Lansing police depicted the suspect as a male in his mid-30s.
Police believe the suspect is responsible for each of the six incidents.
Lansing police also are investigating whether the suspect is linked to a series of unsolved sexual assaults in 2003.
The victims of the 2003 assaults and the recent assaults all were women who lived alone.
