Nature Center offers summer activities

June 15, 2007

The Harris Nature Center, 3998 Van Atta Road in Meridian Township, is offering family fun for the summer months.

"Firefly Frenzy," a story time for preschool and elementary students, will be held at 10 a.m. July 5 with host Chicory Chipmunk. A $3 fee per child is charged at the door in July, as well as other story times Aug. 16, Sept. 13 and Oct. 11.

For families who want to huddle around a campfire but don't want the hassle of a camping trip, the Harris Nature Center offers the Family Campfire Series, with a different theme for each Saturday night in July.

Opening with the theme "Dragonfly Dance," the 8:30 p.m. event costs $2 per person or $5 for a family, to be paid at the door.

Participants are asked to pre-register for all events to ensure a place. To register, call (517) 349-3866.
