Police briefs 05/15/07

Two students were arrested Saturday after a Brody Hall Complex employee witnessed the students attempting to steal bikes. One of the students, a 22-year-old male, and another, a 19-year-old male, were found with bolt cutters to break the locks on the bikes between Rather and Bailey halls, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.The students attempted to steal a $200 Huffy Alpine mountain bike and a $150 Riley Mountain bike, McGlothian-Taylor said.After being approached by East Lansing police and MSU police, one of the students claimed the bike was his but could not prove it, and the other indicated the other bike did not belong to him but that he had found it, McGlothian-Taylor said. The students were arrested and the case is being reviewed by Ingham County Prosecutor's Office, McGlothian-Taylor said.A 15-year-old individual was arrested and released to his parents Saturday at about 1:30 a.m. after violating curfew and trespassing in the University Club swimming pool, McGlothian-Taylor said. The individual, along with others, were riding BMX bikes in the club swimming pool, McGlothian-Taylor said.Ashley A. Smith
